The Vega Baja School Theatre Show brings the house down
On Wednesday (May 21st) the curtain closed on the 28th annual Vega Baja School Theatre Show, to an audience of 800 children who showed excitement and enthusiasm at having attended and been part of an event like this.
They all went to the Teatro Circo in Orihuela to see the closing show of this edition, which began on May 5th and has involved some 3,800 pupils.
On the stage that day were Los Dolses Primary School in Orihuela Costa – most of whom are British – , the Santo Domingo Diocesan College and the Municipal Theatre School, who opened and closed the show.
The performances were a tribute to Lucio Sarabia Torres, who retired last year and was in charge of maintenance for the Teatro Circo for many years.
Councillor for Culture Rosa Martínez said it had gone well, noting that the number of schools involved grows every year.
Treading the boards of that stage have been children from 31 schools around the Vega Baja, including Rojales, Callosa, Torrevieja, Catral and Molina de Segura, who between them put on about 40 performances.
A new addition this year was a performance involving pupils, teachers, parents and ex students of the Gabriel Miró Secondary School.
