Exercise classes, water sports and children’s activities planned until April

From this Sunday, March 4th, until the middle of June, Orihuela Town Hall is putting on the “The Winter Beach” programme, which includes exercise activities (aerobics, yoga, body balance…), nautical activities (paddle surf, kayaking, introductions to diving), and workshops for children.

Every Sunday at 10am “we can get in shape by by doing aerobic exercises for an hour on the beach. And from April the other planned activities will be added,” explained Councillor Luisa Boné.

The full programme can be consulted on the Facebook page of the Beaches Department (Concejalía de Playas – Orihuela) and the Town Hall website (www.orihuela.es).

Boné indicated that they have chosen La Caleta beach in Cabo Roig because it has the most suitable terrain for the different activities, and it is the busiest of the beaches in winter and also has a beach bar that is open all year round.

“This is the first time a programme has been set up for families to spend Sundays together on the beach with activities for all ages. It will serve as a test period for us to find out what residents think about all the activities and be able to improve them when they start again in October,” she said.

“Different groups and people using the beach have been asking for something like this for a long time and we hope that they all like the programme.”
