This year’s festival of music, dance and food will be from May 23rd-27th

The 2018 Torrevieja Feria de Sevillanas will be held from May 23rd-27th, announced Councillor Domingo Pérez, who explained that the contract to organise it is costing €99,500.

Companies that want to organise it will have to provide at least 10 artists for the Town Hall to choose from based on quality, artistic merit and public demand. The Town Hall will also let local associations set up huts in the fair as they did last year.

“We want everyone in Torrevieja to get involved through their associations and groups of friends for an event that will be very popular,” he said.

There will also be a warm up to the festival on Sunday April 15th. Rosa Martínez, president of the Casa de Andalucía Rafael Alberti de Torrevieja announced that this day’s activities will start with a Rociera Mass in the Sagrado Corazón church at midday, then an offering of flowers to the monolith of the Virgen de la Inmaculada, accompanied by pilgrims and horse riders.

At 4:30pm the Queen of the Sevillanas fair will be chosen at the Casa de Andalucía, and to end the day at 7:30pm in the Centro Cultural Virgen del Carmen there will be an official ceremony to present the fair’s poster and a performance by Marisol Segura of her show “Sevillanas y Copla”. Tickets to this are free and can be collected in advance from the Centro Cultural Virgen del Carmen and the Casa de Andalucía.
