Bar owner also accused of covering up the crime

A man accused of killing another man in a pub in Orihuela Costa went on trial by jury in Elche on Monday, along with the owner of the establishment where it happened who is accused of covering it up.

According to the Prosecution Service, the homicide happened in January 2016 when two customers in the pub started arguing and one of them attacked the other with a glass in the face and neck.

The victim, who was 40 years old, bled to death.

After the homicide, the owner of the pub told the attacker to leave, cleaned the glass and told the Guardia Civil that it had happened outside the bar.

The Prosecution Service is asking for the one accused of homicide to get 14 years in prison and the other to get two years and two months for covering up a crime.
